Discover the Ultimate Pigmentation Removal Facial

Skin pigmentation can be an embarrassing issue that affects the confidence of many. Looking in the mirror and seeing reddish or brown patches of discolouration on your face, you opt for layers of makeup to hide those age and sun spots. Or perhaps you’ve tried just about every off-the-shelf product that claims to lighten and brighten your pigmentation.

Today, we’re introducing you to your facial pigmentation superhero, that will bring back your bright and gorgeous complexion, so you can ditch the makeup (if you wish to!) and be freckle-free.

What causes facial pigmentation?

If you have ever noticed darker patches of skin on your face, that's likely pigmentation, and it can be caused by a variety of factors. One of the most common is sun exposure, with many of us noticing a few more freckles appearing after long, summer days spent enjoying our Gold Coast beaches. When your skin is exposed to UV rays, it produces more melanin, the pigment that gives your skin its colour. This can lead to dark spots or patches on your face.

Hormonal changes can also play a role in pigmentation. Pregnancy, birth control pills and menopause all affect your oestrogen and progesterone levels. These hormones play a role in regulating the amount of melanin you produce, resulting in lighter or darker patches of skin. Certain medications and skin injuries can also lead to pigmentation.

Ultimately, many of us will experience some level of skin pigmentation, to varying degrees. But those dark and light spots don’t have to be forever!

Removing pigmentation on the face with DMK Remodelling Procedure (RP)

DMK’s Remodelling Procedure(RP) is a safe and effective solution for removing pigmentation on both the face and body. This revolutionary treatment procedure uses a combination of natural ingredients and advanced technology to safely reduce the appearance of skin pigmentation.

RP is a skin peel treatment, but instead of simply peeling away the top-layers of skin, it works deep into the layers underneath, renewing, rebalancing and reconstructing the skin’s structure. Although this treatment can be used to rewind the signs of pigmentation, that’s not the only benefit you’ll experience from this 10-day protocol. It can also address other signs of photodamaged skin, including wrinkles, sagging skin, uneven skin tone, thick or leathery skin, or for those wanting to bring back their skin’s natural, vibrant glow. The result? Younger-looking, healthier, stronger skin.

For treating signs of pigmentation, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy is used in conjunction with the RP protocol. Pigmented cells are targeted, and the lightwaves absorbed by the melanin, which is then broken down and removed from the body, through the lymphatic system, or pushed to the surface to be removed in the sloughing off process (experienced in the RP peeling stage).

What to expect during DMK RP & IPL treatments

Trying any new treatment protocol can be daunting, especially if you’ve had numerous unsuccessful attempts at treating your pigmentation problems in the past. To help you prepare for skin pigmentation removal, we’ve outlined what you can expect as part of the DMK RP & IPL treatment protocol.

Pre-Treatment

Prior to treatment, it’s important that the skin is in a healthy condition. RP & IPL is not suitable for all skin types, so you’ll first need to have a thorough skin analysis from one of our qualified skin therapists. During this analysis you can discuss any skin concerns, and we’ll get to know your skin and health history. If you’re dealing with skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis or other inflammatory skin conditions, RP isn’t recommended for you. However, your skin therapist can help recommend other treatment options that can deal with these conditions.

Once it has been determined that RP is an appropriate treatment protocol for you, you’ll begin a 10-day homecare skin routine, along with 2-4 enzyme treatments in the clinic. DMK’s enzyme therapy engages the lymphatic system to bring fresh oxygenated blood and nutrients to skin cells. Together with your DMK skincare products, the enzyme treatments will get your skin functioning optimally, in preparation for the RP procedure.

One week prior to your 10-day RP protocol beginning, you’ll return to the clinic for your IPL treatment, so that pigmentation can be specifically targeted and begin to break down prior to your RP pigmentation removal facial. It’s important you continue with your homecare products post-IPL treatment, which include products such as Melanotech drops, designed to inhibit melanin formulation.

10-Day RP Protocol Begins

Hooray! It’s pigmentation removal day! Well, at least the start of it. You’ll visit us in the clinic for your first facial, where we’ll apply your mask layer-by-layer, until no more can be absorbed into your skin. This mask will be left on overnight, before you complete your prescribed at-home skincare routine, which will cleanse the mask off. You’ll then return to the clinic, for a second application of the treatment mask and leave it on again overnight.

On days 3-5 the peeling process will begin. Although this can be different for everyone, according to the condition of your skin, most people experience the majority of peeling during these days. During this period, you’ll continue your prescribed DMK skincare routine, morning and night, before returning to the clinic on either day 5 or 6 for your first ‘lift-off’ enzyme mask treatment. Your homecare routine will continue through until day 10, when you’ll return for your final enzyme ‘lift off’ treatment, revealing your newly revitalised skin.

Post-treatment
The results of the RP will continue to show through, as the remodelling process continues for up to 3 months. But don’t worry, you won’t be peeling through this time. You will however continue to have glowing, healthy and optimally functioning skin.

Depending on your skin condition and any concerns, your skin therapist may recommend continuing with regular enzyme treatments, or other facials such as muscle-banding
